In May 2024, the trail was difficult to follow due to downed trees and drifts of snow that obstructed the route. Because of these obstacles, the trail would be considered moderate. Once the trail is clear, it would be considered an easy trail. Apart from the trees and snow that obscured the track, the trail was easy to follow.
On the edge of the Weminuche Wilderness, the lake is surrounded by trees on three sides. On the west side of the lake, the rocky ramparts ascend toward a 12,175-foot unnamed peak.
